What is Playcentre?
Playcentre is a liscensed Early Childhood organisation where we have two roles
- To provide sessions for children to learn and explore through play, from birth to six years
- To provide support and learning opportunities for parents/whanau/caregivers.

The Playcentre philosophy embraces a number of strands:
- Playcentre believes that children reach their full potential most successfully when their parents undersand their development and take part in the learning process.
- Playcentre believes that children learn by doing - through play.
- Placyetres are run by the parents as a co-operative, so that the parents remain fully responsible for the education of their young children.
- Playcentre provides a variety of learning opportunities for parents.
Canterbury Playcentre Association belongs to the New Zealand Playcentre Federation. The New Zealand Playcentre Federation website provides more general information about Playcentre and a discussion board is available to discuss Playcentre issues.
